Banned Books Week: September 25−October 2, 2010

Did you know that some of your favorite teen books are on the Banned Books list? Each year librarians, booksellers, teachers and countless other take this opportunity to highlight the importance of intellectual freedom and remind us not to take this precious democratic freedom for granted. September is National Library Card Sign-up Month!

Spread the word! The American Library Association acknowledges September as the hottest month to get your Wayne library card. This all-important card grants you access to new Young Adult books, internet computers, and exciting teen programs! Walk, don’t run, to the Circulation Desk to sign up now!

Remember: Young adults ages 17 & under need a parent present and proof of their Wayne address.
 

 
  
Programs are open to Wayne residents only in grades 6 & up. Registration can be done in person or by phone beginning at 9:00 a.m. on the registration date. PLEASE NOTE: If you are unable to attend a program please call the library in advance. This will allow others on the waiting list to attend the program, as well to avoid waste of materials.

To help parents, educators, and others better understand, prevent, and take action against this growing concern, ebrary is pleased to subsidize a collection of open access e-books on cyber bullying and enable other organizations to contribute materials as long as they have copyrights.
