Teen Calendar for March


 
  
Computer Game Room

Beginning Monday, October 5, 2009 the upstairs Computer Game Room will be open on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 2:30 - 3:45 p.m. for High School students. The Game Room is open when Wayne schools are open. Teens must have a valid Wayne Library card to sign up. Please sign up at the Children's Reference Desk.
Kids Helping Kids

Tuesdays & Wednesdays  3:00 - 4:30 p.m.

Tutoring services by the Wayne Valley High School National Honors Society will take place in the Children’s Department of the Main Library for middle school and high school students who attend schools that feed into Wayne Valley High School. Students may attend one or both days.

Sessions will not be held when there is no school in Wayne. Please email: wvkidshelpingkids@gmail.com if you would like tutoring services, so the tutors can accommodate each child’s individual needs.

Sweets for the Sweet Contest

When you're in the library, come to the Children's Reference Desk and put in a guess!  THe person who guesses closest to the correct number wins the jar of candy hearts!

Design Your Own Origami Flexagon

Monday, February 15, 2010  1:30 - 2:30 p.m.

Registration Date: Tuesday, February 2, 2010

Are you curious how a strip of paper can magically transform itself? Then don't miss out on this fun workshop open to young adults in grades 6 & up. You will get to be creative using colored pens/ pencils and some metallic ones to design your own creations.

Teen Tech Week

Monday, March 7 - Saturday March 13, 2010

Teen Tech Week is a national initiative aimed at teens, librarians, educators, parents, and other concerned adults meant to encourage teens to take advantage of libraries' nonprint resources. The 2010 theme — Learn Create Share @ Your Library — fosters teen creativity and positions the library as a physical and virtual place for safe exploration of the many types of technology available at libraries, including DVDs, music, gaming, video production, online homework help, social networking, tech workshops, audiobooks and more.

 
   
Game Day

Monday, March 8, 2010  3:15 - 4:15 p.m.

Registration date: Saturday, February 27, 2010.

Celebrate Teen Tech Week with a Game Day!  Come to the library and play Monopoly, Chess, Clue, etc... or bring your own game.  There will be delicious snacks and some hot chocolate with whipped cream!

Open to young adults in grades 5 & up.

Guess How Many Green M&M's Contest

Begins on Wednesday, March 16, 2010 and ends on Tuesday, March 18, 2010.

When you’re in the library, put in a guess!  The person who guesses the correct number (or closest to) wins the jar of yummy green M&M's.  The contest is open to ages 2 – 18.

Teen Movie - Cirque du Freak:  The Vampire's Assistant

Rated PG-13 (for sequences of intense supernatural violence and action, disturbing images, thematic elements and some language), 109 minutes.


Registration date: Friday, March 26, 2010.

A young boy named Darren Shan meets a mysterious man at a freak show who turns out to be a Vampire.  After a series of events, Darren must leave his normal life and go on the road with the Cirque du Freak and become a Vampire.  He must now find a way from destroying his last trace of humanity.
