Volunteering -  In the Library

Who?

Our volunteers should:

  • want to volunteer (not because their parents are making them do it)!

  • be self-motivated and reliable

  • be in grades 10 through 12 (you can volunteer the summer following your completion of 9th grade)

What?

We depend on teen volunteers to help

  • clean books
  • straighten shelves
  • shelve books
  • type up book lists and bibliographies
  • help prepare crafts and materials for children’s programs.

When?

Help us for two hours each week…in the daytime during the summer.

Why?

Volunteering helps you help others, and…

  • teaches you job skills and values

  • helps you complete community service hours as required by your school or other organization

  • is a great thing to add to your college, scholarship, or job applications

  • makes you feel good

  • places you in a great spot for doing homework or reading

  • Applicants are limited.

How?

Fill out a Teen Volunteer Application and submit it to the Youth Services Department at the Main Library of the Wayne Public Library.
