Wayne Public Library's Summer Reading Program 2020  - For Adults, Teens, and Kids - July 6 - August 29

Program Rules

Registration for Summer Reading begins at 9:00 AM on Monday, July 6, 2020 and will end on Saturday, August 29, 2020 at 5:00 PM

Children and Young Adults - Complete one certificate and you will be entered into a drawing to win a $25.00 Amazon Gift Card.

Adults - For Every Program Certificate that you complete you will be entered into a drawing to win a $25.00 Amazon Gift Card, reading books in any format are acceptable for this year's Summer Reading Program.  

Register for Summer reading online and access to your online account you may also use the ReadSquared App from your app store.

Monday, July 6, 2020 from 11:00 – 11:45 AM

During the show you'll be invited to build your own instruments, learn a quick piece, and play along with the Bash the Trash musicians - and take a solo on your cool new noise-maker! Materials to collect (you don’t need them all…): A few clean empty tin cans, clean takeout containers, small boxes etc.; A few rubber bands; Pencils or chopsticks. Concert is best for children ages 4 - 9, but all are welcome.

Young Adult Microsoft Coding Program: Small Basic

Friday, July 10th 2020 at 11:00 am - 12:00 pm

Students will learn very basic JavaScript and they will be able to code a turtle through a maze!

Open to Young Adults in grades 5th through 12th

Please note: students will need to download a “Teams App” before class

Online registration will begin Friday, June 26, 2020 at 7:00 am

Virtual Drawing with Dawn: Manga

Tuesday, July 14th 2020 at 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm

Learn the basics on how to draw Manga!

Open to Young Adults in grades 4th through 12th

Online registration will begin Tuesday, June 30, 2020 at 7:00 am


Thursday, July 16, 2020 from 11:00 AM—12:00 PM

A fun, virtual reptile show with a handler from Rizzo’s Wildlife World!! For children of all ages.


Friday, July 17, 2020 from 10:30— 11:15 AM

Featuring songs, dance, and instruments, followed by a trombone parade with Mr. Chris!


Tuesday, July 21, 2020 from 6:30— 7:00 PM

Join us for a Rockin’ good time!!
For children of all ages.


Monday, July 27, 2020 from 6:30—7:15 PM

A long time ago in a faraway world, two brave villagers go on a daring journey to release the dragons and save the kingdom from the Evil Ice Sorceress. When things don’t go as planned, however, they might need to look to themselves (and to science!) for the answer. Don’t miss this fun fantasy adventure featuring awesome dry ice effects! For children of all ages.


Tuesday, July 28, 2020 from 6:30 – 7:15 PM

Join us for a virtual journey with OCEANS ROCK, presented by DINOSAURS ROCK. Learn about sharks, oceans and sea-life in a fun, entertaining way, all with amazing visuals of museum-quality specimens such as life-size taxidermy sharks and stingrays, huge shark jaws, giant crab plaques, prehistoric sea creatures and more. Learn how oceans are saving our lives in the most unique ways and explore sea creatures such as manta rays, blue whales, giant crabs, sea horses, isopods, octopus and the blob fish! For children of all ages.

Summer Knit, Crochet Book Club - Knit or Crochet a pair of Mittens!

Book Title: "The Woolly Hat Knitting Club " by Poppy Dolan

Crochet for Beginners - View the Flyer

Introduction to crochet for beginners. We will learn some beginner stitches such as making a foundation chain, Single crochet, half double crochet, and double crochet. We will try a small granny square coaster for a project. A size H or I Hook and 1 skein of a medium worsted acrylic yarn, scissors, and a plastic yarn needle are the items required for the class. Registration begins on July 8th at 7:00 AM
